of the Breed The Bleu du Maine originated in 19th century
France in the regions of Maine & Anjou by crossing a local
breed with the Dishley Leicester & Wensleydale. The breed
spread throughout France, notably into Brittany, the Centre,
South East & the Ardennes from where exports to Germany
& Belgium began. In 1982 there was the first commercial
import of Bleus into the U.K.
